What paper trading a memecoin actually means

Paper trading is placing orders you do not fund. You pick a coin, you size a position, you watch it move and you decide when to get out — and at the end you have a profit or a loss that cost you nothing but attention.

The point is not the number at the end. It is finding out what your own hand does when a coin you are holding drops forty percent in ninety seconds, before that question costs you rent money. Most people discover they do not sell. They discover it with real money, once.

Why a simulator with invented prices teaches the wrong reflex

Most trading simulators generate their own price series, or replay a chart that finished months ago. Both teach a version of this market that does not exist, and the part they leave out is the part that takes your money.

A pump.fun coin is not priced by a matching engine with somebody on the other side of your order. It is priced by a bonding curve: a pool that starts at 30 SOL, and whose price is a function of what is in it. When you buy, your own money is what moves the price, and you are filled at the average price on the way up — not at the number that was on screen when you clicked.

This terminal reads each coin's curve straight off the chain, quotes the fill you would actually get, and charges it. When a fill is bad, it is bad for the same reason it would have been bad with real money.

What you are looking at

• The launch feed. Real pump.fun launches as they are created, ranked by what has moved rather than by what is newest — most of what launches never trades at all. Pick the window it measures over: 1m, 5m, 1h, 6h or 24h.
• Coins past the curve. From 5m up the board also carries coins that already graduated, which is most of what actually trades on pump.fun. Those windows come from DexScreener and are about thirty seconds behind; the 1m board is read off the chain by us. A third of the 5m and 1h board is held for coins still on their curve, so a launch is never priced off its own page by a graduate doing four hundred times its volume.
• The chart. Pump.fun's own trade history, with a live edge read off the curve every two seconds — so a coin thirty seconds old already has a chart, which is exactly when it matters.
• The ticket. Your size, the slippage that size earns against the current pool depth, and the 1% fee. Shown before you commit, not after.
• Order flow. Net SOL into or out of the curve per interval. Not individual trades — nobody can see those without paying for a trade feed, and this does not pretend to.
• The holder panel. Who owns the coin, quoted both as a share of total supply and as a share of the float — the tokens anybody has actually bought. On a coin with a 3% float, one wallet holding half of everything owned is 1.5% of supply, which looks like nothing anywhere else.

What it costs

Free opens three new coins a day. Buying, selling and re-entering the coins you have already opened is unlimited, so a free book is a real book and not a trial — the whole loop works, on three launches at a time.

Pro takes the daily count off and opens the evidence panels: holder concentration, what the developer bought of their own coin, and how close the curve is to migrating. Those are the numbers that separate a launch that is running from one that is being walked up.

What it cannot do

It is a prototype and it says so on the page. Three limits worth knowing before you judge it:

• Your orders do not exist. The market moves as though you were not in it, because you are not. On a thin curve a real 5 SOL buy would leave a mark this cannot simulate.
• Order flow is aggregate. Net SOL per interval, not a tape of individual trades.
• Graduated coins are read differently. Once a coin leaves its curve for a pool, its float lives somewhere this cannot always see, and the panel says so rather than guessing. Their 5m to 24h figures are somebody else's measurement, not ours, and the sidebar says which.

Everything else — the feed, the prices, the fills, the slippage — is the real market.
